We’re thrilled to share that we currently have over 25 kittens ranging from 4-10 months of age, looking for loving homes! Due to a four-month quarantine, we haven’t had the opportunity to take updated photos just yet—but we’re working on it. New images will be posted within the next week. In the meantime, the photos shown are of kittens still in our care, taken just before the quarantine began.

We also have a few stunning sweethearts in the 10–12 month range. These gentle souls love being petted and cuddled by those they trust, but they’re shy around new people. They’re often passed over for the tiny babies who grow up fast—but if you have a tender heart and a little extra patience, one of these older kittens might be your “Purfect” match.

They enjoy supervised adventures around the house and fresh air in our outdoor catio, plus their very own bedroom filled with fun, stimulating toys. We spoil them with lots of love and socialization, including gentle introductions to both big and small dogs, so they’re ready to thrive in their furever homes.
We feed only the best, including Royal Canin Kitten & Orijen as our main diet, along with premium wet foods like Weruva, Merrick, and Purina formulas—ensuring healthy growth and development.

We offer a 2-person, 2-hour visit in our kitten room so you can spend time with all the babies and see who tugs at your heart. To schedule, please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire located under the Adoption Info tab. We typically respond within 24–48 hours. Please note that space and times are limited, as meet & greets are only held on Saturday & Sunday.

Kitten Rescued From Phoenix House Fire
March 1st, 2026
4 Week Recovery Update
Four weeks after being rescued from a Phoenix house fire, Toast continues to defy every expectation. When he first arrived at Second Chance Kitten Rescue, he was a four‑week‑old kitten with extensive burns, respiratory distress, and a long list of unknowns. Today, thanks to unwavering support from our volunteers and dedicated medical care, Toast is healing, growing, and showing the bright personality that was nearly lost forever.
Toast remains under the medical supervision of Dr. Angela Wood at Scaredy Cat Animal Hospital, who has continued to volunteer her time to guide his recovery. His burns have steadily improved, his mobility has increased, and he now eagerly explores his surroundings between treatments. Daily wound care, pain management, and specialized therapies are still essential, but Toast meets each step with the same determination that carried him through those first critical hours.
While Toast’s progress is encouraging, his recovery is far from complete. He will require ongoing medical support, follow‑up evaluations, and careful monitoring to ensure his burns heal properly and without complications. His journey is a testament to resilience and perseverance.
Second Chance Kitten Rescue continues to provide round the clock care for Toast as well as other critical‑needs kittens who also depend on us. Community support remains vital not only for Toast but for the several other special needa and critical kittens of Second Chance Kitten Rescue.

Day One
Toast, a four week old kitten, was rescued from a Phoenix house fire after a firefighter discovered him severely burned and struggling to breathe. After multiple clinics were unwilling to provide emergency care, the firefighter continued searching for help until he reached Second Chance Kitten Rescue, where Toast was immediately admitted for lifesaving support.
Toast is currently under the medical care of Dr. Angela Wood at Scaredy Cat Animal Hospital, who has volunteered her time to stabilize him, manage his burn injuries, and oversee his ongoing treatment. Her expertise, combined with the firefighter’s persistence and the 24/7 care at Second Chance Kitten Rescue has given Toast a chance at survival that he otherwise would not have had.
Despite extensive burns and trauma, Toast remains alert, responsive, and determined. His recovery will require continued medical care, specialized treatment, and long‑term support.
Second Chance Kitten Rescue is accepting donations to assist with Toast’s care and to support other critical‑needs kittens in our program.

I am a super sweet boy that started out really scared and unsure. It takes time for me to open up and connect but when I do I am so sweet. I follow my one foster mom around and rub up against her legs, I found I like being pet and even being cuddled and kissed. I play in the teenage room and get to go out on to the catio and even get to sleepover sometimes in the teenager room with the bigger boys. Plus my foster mom is on their so I get to sneak in a snuggle.
I don't like hectic or chaotic environments but like having feline friends or maybe one of my sister's.

We landed up at SCKR when a family tried to do the right thing and helped us get off the streets but they needed help making us feel safe, better socialized and finding special homes that are not loud or chaotic so I can really spread my wings.
My name was given to me because it means 'defender, warrior or even helper of mankind' and I definitely brave, warrior-like and even a little crafty. I had to be because my foster mom's think we had a rough and maybe even traumatic start to life and it will take a special family to allow me time, love and patience so I can be the best kitty ever.
With in a few months I already have come from cowering in a corner to exploring the house, playing, running after a laser pointer, eating treats and becoming more confident and safe. I like being pet but have not progressed to laying on laps...Time will tell especially with the right forever home.

I am a really pretty beige, brown, orange tabby mix, almost like my sister Stella who looks like a Tabico.
I have come such a long way in a just a few months. I have discovered being around lots of other cats but don't like crowding. I like being pet and playing and running around. My foster moms say I can be a little spicey at times, which young lady isn't? But that is because i am still cautious and learning to trust more.
I really am trying hard and want my second chance to find my forever home, maybe even with my sibling. My foster moms are figuring out who I am more bonded or drawn to.

The truth is, we were plucked from the woman's neighborhood as older feral kittens, and brought to SCKR without full disclosure. Our foster mom's have been working on our trust issues for a few months and we have come a long way, but we need & deserve one on one attention in a home with no other animals.
We will lay at the end of the bed, or even near your knees, come up close for food & lick treats off your finger. We love to talk to you & play together. We also were just recently neutered to see if our hormones would calm down a bit. This doesn't happen immediately, but already our rescue moms are seeing a difference.
Second Chance Kitten Rescue is looking for a special person, with no other pets to Foster both Chimi & Chewy, together to help work on their socialization & trust issues. They are both very sweet, have the kindest eyes, are not fractious, have never bitten or attempted to bite. They just need a lot of confidence building from their scary time on the streets all alone with their sister at a very young age.
If you think you would be a perfect foster for both boys or if you have always wanted the challenge of adoption a younger cat who deserve a Second Chance, please call us to discuss these two options.
